The Edge of the Woods...

The Groundnut

As I get closer to the edge of the woods, I see a plant that keeps me happy all year long. I'm certain that a few of the people that know me are glad its around too. Its St. John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum). If you turn over the leaves you will see black dots along the borders, thats where most of the medicinal stuff is.
I also see climbing up through the taller plants is a plant the Pilgrims learned to appreciate, and Native Americans ate. Its the Groundnut (Apios americana), the produce wonderful tubers, they taste great.
