Down by the Stream...

The sounds of water running in streams is so soothing. If the bugs aren't too bad, it is a wonderful place to be on a hot summer day. Take your shoes off and stick your feet in the icy water, yikes! Umm well it certainly wakes you up.

So lets see what's growing around here. The best places are where the sun is peeking through a break in the forest canopy. I see some Water Cress (Nasturtium officinale) growing over there, simply wonderful eating! As with most plants, eat the leaves when they are younger.
A little further on where there is a bit more sunlight I see Peppermint (Mentha piperita), I don't think this plant needs much introduction, but there are many mints out there, so check your ID (get a field guide) if you think you have Peppermint and it doesn't taste quite right.
Sit and enjoy the woods for a while. When you are ready to explore some more go check out my links page.
